I have always had a close relationship with the plant Kingdom. I grew up on a 100 acre farm and spent more time climbing trees than I did with my feet on the ground. Some of my favourite trees were also like friends to me. A giant old Sequioa that pointed like a rocket to the sky, a gnarly and hollow Chinese Pear tree with metal swings hanging from its broad branches and a manderine that was home to a colony of ants. I have studied as a horticulturist, florist and Shaman over the years since playing under the canopies of my friendly trees. These experiences and years of training have given me a broad understanding of plants and their intelligence.

I have developed The Shaman’s Apothecary as a way to connect people with the healing powers that plants so freely offer us. Focusing on some of the more rare and potent offerings the Plant Kingdom provides to us.

Shilajit is a natural substance found mainly in the Himalayas. Formed for centuries by the gradual decomposition of certain plants such as moss and lichens by the action of microorganisms. Shilajit has been known and used for centuries by Ayurvedic medicine as a rejuvenator and as an anti-aging compound and is known as “The Destroyer of Weakness.”

In 2018 I was lucky enough to meet a pilgrim who was seeking knowledge and healing. He taught me about Shilajit. He went to the mountain and he gathered it up. Not any easy feat even for the most determined spirit. 

Years later as paths have diverged the Shilajit has found me again, has patiently waited for me to be ready as I have developed my knowledge and tempered my fire, I have been given this gift, to be a keeper of this medicine

I have had to persuade the authorities to accept that this is a food and had extensive lab testing for impurities and heavy metals, it’s been difficult and tedious and sometimes I thought it wouldn’t be possible to add this to my apothecary but Shilajit is patient, it is ancient and I am persistent. I have all of the approvals in place, I have been very focused as I poured sticky liquid resin into jars and sealed them up for you. 

I have been using Shilajit as a daily supplement for years now. It gives you mental clarity and helps your brain function at optimal levels. This is especially helpful for people who have spent time stretching their mind with psychedelics or altered states of consciousness. ~ Cacao ~ Food of the Gods

I didnt expect love to come in the form of Chocolate. But really I shouldn’t have been surprised, we offer it to our loved ones ritually, annually and ceremonially. In 2024 I met a Cacao emissary and I was immidiately activated by this chocolate that I have had a shallow and selfish love affair with all my life. It was always a guilty pleasure but somehow this was different. My heart warmed physically in a way I could feel it radiating through my chest. I began asking a million question so I could learn why my body was awakenng like this. The answer was pure and simple connection. This Cacao is lovingly harvested from the trees who are spoken to and the farmers who are respected the spirit of the tree is alive in this Cacao still.

She wants to awaken you, speak to you throught the languauge of love. The Cacao tree holds ancient knowledge and allows you to unlock your inner wisdom. A wise tree indeed, she lives to be over a hudred years of age, flowers and fruits all year round and will reabsorb fruit that isnt harvested, keeping the medicine for herself. She understands self care and the balance of giving and receiving.

Cacao as a plant medicine
Spiritually Cacao was used for thousands of years to connect humans to higher levels of consciousness. It was not used for an hallucinogenic effect, for it is far gentler and rather creates a state of positivity to support the navigation of day-to-day life, being neuroactive but not strongly psychoactive.
 
It gently and softly opens the heart and the third eye to see more. Today this can be likened to mindfulness practices, taking us into presence through an open heart. It is not addictive and was considered the Food of the Gods, for its gentle and powerful support for a spiritual life as a daily food.
